Atelio

Atelio is a financial technology company with a mission to democratize financial services. Focused on underserved underserved or unserved communities by today’s financial systems, Atelio’s embedded finance platform seamlessly integrates into diverse business experiences.

What was the impetuous for this project?

The partnership of Bond and FIS, birthed a new brand called Atelio by FIS.  The initial branding, spearheaded by agency Lippincott, resulted in a new name, logo, and color palette and font choice. However they needed the support of Greater to translate that beyond just a visual identity and into a wholistic brand direction.

What was the process of passing a brand exercise from one agency to another?

We believe collaboration is one of our great strengths as an agency and frequently work closely with our clients and their partners. This is why, when Atelio wanted to pass the baton to us we were more than thrilled. We had several meetings with the team to understand their vision for the brand. They gave us a rundown of their inspiration as well as loose guidelines to work off of - light core palette, geometric shapes, and a flattened 2D aesthetic. With that, we hit the ground running.

The scope

The scope of this project was extensive and even more importantly the timeline was quick. So it was imperative we tackled the many facets of the project systematically to ensure delivery was on time and the quality remained high.

We scoped the project into a few phases, prioritizing the urgent tasks first: Illustration and asset design, and then working to build a design system and brand guidelines, collateral, and finally a new marketing video.  This entire process was working in parallel to the site launch spearheaded by the other agency.

The deliverables

Illustration

One of the first imperatives of the project was to create all the artwork for Atelio's new site. We had 2 weeks to create about 80+ custom illustrations. Because the sprint was so fast, it was important we approached the design process systematically. We began by creating a few sample pieces with variations to hone in on the collective favorites – experimenting with shapes, textures, and execution.

Once we decided the direction we created a geometric library, shapes, forms, and patterns that we could pull from to create different compositions and ultimately pair with the different ui illustrations we were creating for each assets or use as backgrounds on collateral later.

Design system

Once we understood the direction and finished the illustrations we needed to take a larger look at the design system and build comprehensive guidelines that we can use towards anything and everything Atelio.

Within the Design system we outlined typography systems and type scale - prioritizing high contrast headers.  We built a shape library, iconography library, and established guidelines for different types of artwork design. We even went as far as outlining the elements within branded collateral, making components our of section layouts.

Collateral design

Using our newly established design system, we were able to start building sales and marketing collateral.  This included both sales pdfs and deck designs.

The result

The project was a success, we ultimately delivered the artwork on time and the site was launched seamlessly.  Our guidelines are even used successfully for documents and presentations created by Atelio's internal team. From our branding work, we continue to create countless assets, videos, and collateral to support the company's growth.
